March 20 – April 5, 2020
Optional five-day/four-night Venice add-on April 5 – 9
Joining us will be knitting rockstars Isabell Kraemer and Ann Budd.
It was so much fun that I just had to do it again! I’m excited to announce that Cre8tive Escapes will return to Italy in 2020. The adventure we had in 2019 just wasn’t enough. The history, the spirituality, the wine, the food, oh, the food, the Italian Riviera, the countryside, and the fun memories await us!
Throughout the trip, we’ll be joined by German knitwear designer Isabell Kraemer, one of the hottest designers on Ravelry. Isabell will guide us through designing our own contiguous set-in sleeve sweaters and using short rows to customize our sweater to our body. Although there will be homework, it will be worth it because you’ll go home with instructions for your very own custom sweater! Learn more about the classes and homework.
Joining us for the second year in a row will be the prolific author and designer Ann Budd, classes will compliment your work with Isabell Kraemer. You’ll learn Decorative Cast-Ons, and Fixing Knitting Mistakes. Both classes will help ensure your custom sweater is a success!

Please note: This itinerary is subject to change according to weather and availability. We do ask that you be flexible and will let you know as soon as possible if there are changes.
Our trip will begin in Rome on March 20, 2020. We’ll spend three (3) nights in the historic city, home to the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, beautiful churches, and the nearby Vatican City. (Fun fact: Did you know that Vatican City is not actually part of Rome?) In Rome, we’ll stay at the five-star Sina Bernini Bristol Hotel, located just a few blocks from Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.
We’ll then board a luxury coach for the rest of the trip, which begins with three (3) days in Florence, home of the Uffizi Gallery and Michaelangelo’s statue of David. There are also many, many beautiful Duomo’s and spectacular artwork sprinkled throughout the city. If you like Italian leather, you’ll enjoy browsing the many shops that offer bags, wallets, belts, and jackets. In Florence, we’ll stay at the five-star Sina Villa Medici Hotel.
We will then depart for Portovenere, a gem that we found on our last trip to Italy. Along the way, we’ll visit Lucca and Pisa, as well as the Cantine Basile Winery, which is run by three brothers with a passion for fine wine. My favorite it the black witch. It’s oh, so good! We’ll stay two nights in Portovenere, a picturesque little town situated on the Italian Riviera. From there you can enjoy a short boat ride to Cinque Terra, five remote villages with spectacular views. We’ll stay at the five-star Portovenere Grand Hotel.
We’ll head to Perugia (famous for Italian chocolate) in the Umbria Region, stopping in the Tuscan countryside to visit Dr. Nora and her Chianti Cashmere Goat Farm along the way. A highlight of our three (3) days in Perugia will be a cooking class with the charming Rafaella, who will welcome us into her home as if we’re family. Rafaella teaches traditional Italian dishes, complete with olive oil from her mother-in-law’s farm and wine from their vineyard. We’ll also tour the Terre Margaritelli Winery, take a guided walking tour of Perugia, and enjoy a magical side-trip to the ancient city of Assisi, the home of Saint Francis. While in Perugia, we’ll stay at the five-star Sina Brufani Hotel.
Our next destination will be Naples. While in Naples, we’ll explore the ancient city of Pompeii, one of the wonders of the world, tour the Amalfi Coast, and enjoy a tasting of limoncello and mozzarella.
Return to Rome
Our trip will end April 5, 2020, with a final night back at the Sina Bernini Bristol hotel in Rome, where we’ll have a farewell dinner and reminisce over the amazing time we’ve shared together.
April 5 – 9

We’ll visit the nearby islands of Murano, famous for glass-blowing, and Burano, famous for intricate lace.
